More Pictures and Other News

I'm An Aunt! to a very cute little girl, Aubrey Rose. Born on July 1st. Which makes today her 5 day birthday :) Right now, she is sleeping a lot, but is very good at making faces such as the big yawn face, the stop tickling my feet face, the I'm hungry face with added noise feature, and the big stretch face. Mom and Baby are doing fine. Dad is a very proud, and yes, he changes diapers and is actually quite good at it.

So Here are more pictures, none of Little Aubrey since I haven't taken any yet, but you get to see my amazing dragonfly and dandelion pictures, well, I think they are amazing. The macro function on my camera is very cool, but I need to buy a little tripod.

New Camera!

Who Know you could find such wholesome goodness at a gas station?

Yes folks, I got a new camera. A brand new Canon Powershot SD750 Digital Elph. A most wonderful wonderful camera, and Canon even took back my old one, and gave me a new one for a very nice discount. Now, if only I can figure out how to use it, life will be good.

This is so cool!

Remember those photomosaic posters featuring Mickey Mouse or Einstein that are made up of a lot of small pictures of Mickey Mouse or Einstein?

Well, You can now do it at home!

I was playing around on Librarything.com and came across a feature that would let you see every book cover in your library. It then pointed you to a nifty little freeware program that would allow you to take a whole bunch of pictures and photomosaic them to your favorite photograph!

So I downloaded the program, saved the webpage with all those covers (and nicely putting all those covers into a folder) and then I created a few mosiacs.

Heres the results:

Very Cool! I only had 437 book covers to use, and used a large book cover size, but you can change the settings to work with your image collection, Of course, the smaller size per pictures, and the more restrictions you place on the program, the longer it takes to process the pictures, but you get a much nicer photomosaic. When I photomosaiced the picture of Ollie I used a smaller image size. The pictures of Bentley and Grendel was the default settings. But, even at a lower resolution, the pictures look remarkable like the original, especially the farther away you are.

So onto the details: The program is called AndreaMosaic and can be downloaded HERE. The program is free, but you can give Andrea money, if you want :) It was an easy install, small file size (8 mbs, without the free image collection). The interface is a bit confusing, but I figured it out pretty quickly. All you need to make a photomosaic is a large collection of images, and a favorite photo. Download, and have fun!

Photo Shoot with Bentley

I took half the day off on Friday, just in time for me to watch the cats follow one sunspot to another. I took this opportunity to take pictures of Bentley. It's really difficult to take pictures of a tan and white cats using only flash, so when the sun comes out, and I get a nice back light, I try to take advantage of it. Enjoy!

I'm not sure if Bentley enjoyed his photo shoot- He was trying to sleep and I kept staring at him! He was formerly feral, and while he has made great progress in the three years I've had him, he still spooks easily. I'm really surprised he didn't get up and find a more peaceful spot. Those sunspots must really be tempting!

I'm always amazed at how handsome Bentley is. He is such a beautiful cat. He's also very long - People are always surprised by how little he weighs (9 pounds) - when he stretches - his body goes on and on and on. Its pretty impressive.

This is Grendel. She's nothing but trouble. There's a love - hate relationship between Bentley and Grendel. Grendel loves Bentley - Bentley thinks she's annoying. I don't blame him. She has to be everywhere he is. She cleans his ears, lays on top of him, and bites him in the butt when she thinks he should be playing with her. It's not all bad- I've seen Bentley jump Grendel, and then complain loudly when she bites back- hard. She just turned one, so she is still very much a kitten.
See what I mean? She's nothing but Trouble!

Poor Bentley - not only will I not leave him alone, his little sister insists on being right next to him (notice Grendel's tail?)

Considering moving... with the start of a stretch, and the beginning of a yawn...

Looking for that perfect spot in the sun, but away
from flashing cameras and curious kittens....

The End.

Stay tuned for the next post- Making New Friends!
